In 1991, President George H.W. Bush launched the “1000 Points of Light” campaign, officially establishing National Volunteer Month to recognize the power of individuals making a difference in their communities. At US&S, service is at the heart of who we are.
This month, our team proudly participated in Hands On Greenville (HOG) Day—one of the Upstate’s largest annual service events. On May 3, we rolled up our sleeves for the Sliding Rock Creek Trail Restoration Project, helping with trail maintenance, debris removal, and park cleanup. It was a meaningful way to connect with the community and contribute to a cleaner, safer environment.
We encourage everyone to volunteer with a local organization. It’s an opportunity to make a tangible impact while building new skills and strengthening the communities we care about.
Congratulations to Trudie Jester, recipient of our Integrity Award! Her efficiency, trustworthiness, and kind spirit have made a lasting impact on both our team and the Eastside YMCA. We’re grateful to customers who recognize the people behind our service. Thank you, Trudie, for representing US&S so well!
Congratulations to Jeremiah Davis, recipient of our Performance Award! At US&S, performance means passionate service and a drive for continuous improvement—qualities Jeremiah brings to the table every day.
“As we honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we hope you enjoy the upcoming holiday with peace and gratitude. Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day Weekend. Stay safe and take care.”
May is also National Military Appreciation Month—a time to recognize the service, and sacrifice of our military veterans. At US&S, we’re proud to have veterans on our team and are honored to celebrate them this month. Learn more about the incredible individuals behind the uniform.
May is Global Employee Health and Fitness Month, a time to focus on wellness in both body and mind. Earlier this month, our team participated in the March for Babies event to support the health of moms and babies everywhere.
March of Dimes is leading the fight to end maternal health risks and infant death, close the health equity gap, and give every family the best possible start. By showing up, we took a meaningful step toward better health for all—and proved that when we walk together, we go further.
